Are you interested in contributing your expert knowledge and experience to this Climate Psychology post-COP26 Summit?

The summit, which will take place on Sat 20th Nov 2021, is an interdisciplinary exploration of key topics in climate psychology:
- Threat responses such as denial, emotional avoidance and wishful thinking - why they emerge, how they affect decision-making and action, and how they can be overcome. We are particularly interested in organisation and government level analyses
- Climate anxiety and other forms of distress - how they are experienced and how they can be managed
- Climate trauma and resilience - how trauma can be transformed and used as a catalyst for personal and collective growth
- Intersections of climate, ecological, Covid-19 and other crises and their impact on mental health - how intersections manifest, how existing vulnerabilities are exacerbated, and how social interactions and cohesion are affected by elevated perceptions of threat
This free online event will feature pre-recorded 15-20min evidence-based video presentations, each followed by a live dialogue between the presenter and one or more respondents. It will also include facilitated small group discussions and a whole group session to end.
Interested in contributing your expert knowledge and experience?
We are now inviting proposals for presentations and responses - deadline 20 Sept 10am. We are looking for people who will enjoy exploring their ideas and findings in dialogue with others in a spirit of openness and curiosity. Please note there is no speaker fee available.
The short submission form asks you to tell us about:
- Which topic you would want to speak to
- Your key messages (100 words)
- Your evidence base (100 words)
- How your talk enriches understandings of the topic (100 words)
- Your experience of exploring across or beyond disciplines (100 words)
Selection criteria
We will curate a programme that achieves a diverse and interesting mix of contributors, however there is a limit to the number of presenters and respondents that can be included. Our selection will be based on:
- Relevance of proposed presentation to topic
- Evidence-based i.e. informed by findings from research or professional/personal/artistic practice
- Interdisciplinary interest
- Contribution to enriching understanding of the topic - deepen, broaden or disrupt
- Overall mix and combination of presenters and respondents, by perspective and demographics
We look forward to hearing from you!
