These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Climate Psychology Alliance website and our online services. We've tried to write them in plain language so they're actually possible to read. If anything here is unclear, please get in touch and we'll do our best to help.
1. Introduction
Welcome to the Climate Psychology Alliance website ("the Site"). The Site is operated by Climate Psychology Alliance Limited ("CPA", "we", "us", or "our"), a Registered Company and Charitable Community Benefit Society registered with the Financial Conduct Authority under number 8467, with charitable tax exemption registered with HM Revenue & Customs.

- "User," "you," "your" refers to anyone who accesses or uses the Site, whether as a visitor, member, donor, event attendee, or in any other capacity.
- "Member" refers to a registered member of the Climate Psychology Alliance who has paid the annual membership fee and agreed to CPA's membership terms.
- "Content" refers to all text, images, videos, audio, documents, designs, and other materials published on the Site by CPA.
- "User-Generated Content" refers to any content submitted, posted, or shared on the Site by users, including comments, messages, forum posts, and contributions to CPA's community platform.
- "Third-Party Services" refers to external websites, applications, or services linked to or integrated with the Site, including payment processors, community platforms, and event booking tools.
3. User Accounts and Registration
Some parts of the Site require you to create an account or register before accessing them. This includes member-only areas, event bookings, and CPA's online community platform.
When you create an account, you agree to:

- Keep your login details confidential and not share them with others.
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
We may suspend or terminate your account if:

- You engage in behaviour that conflicts with CPA's values of honesty, trust, care, and respect for difference.
- You fail to pay membership fees or other charges owed to CPA.

4. Content Ownership and Intellectual Property
All content on the Site, including text, images, graphics, logos, videos, audio, downloadable documents, and the design of the Site itself, is the property of CPA or its licensors and is protected by UK and international copyright law.
You may:
- View, download, and print content from the Site for personal, non-commercial use.
- Share links to pages on the Site.
- Quote short excerpts of written content with appropriate attribution to CPA.
You may not, without our prior written permission:
- Reproduce, republish, or redistribute content from the Site for commercial purposes.

Exceptions
Some content on the Site, including articles in Explorations in Climate Psychology and contributions from guest authors, is published under specific rights arrangements.
Where content has been first published elsewhere (for example in journals or books), rights are retained by the original publisher and are credited on the individual page. In these cases, please contact the original publisher for permissions.
If you'd like to use CPA content in a way not covered above, please get in touch. We're generally happy to grant permission for educational, non-commercial, and aligned purposes.
5. User-Generated Content
When you contribute content to the Site, whether by commenting, posting on our community platform, submitting to Explorations, or any other means, you retain ownership of your content.
By submitting it, however, you grant CPA a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content in connection with CPA's work.
When you submit content, you confirm that:
- You own the rights to the content or have permission to share it.
- Your content does not infringe the rights of any third party.
- Your content complies with these Terms and Conditions and CPA's values.
- You understand that CPA may edit, moderate, or remove content at our discretion.
CPA does not tolerate content that:
- Is defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or hateful.
- Promotes violence, self-harm, or illegal activity.
- Violates someone's privacy or confidentiality.
- Shares false or misleading information about climate science or climate psychology.
- Is commercial spam or unsolicited advertising.
We reserve the right to remove any user-generated content that breaches these principles, and to suspend or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly post prohibited content.
6. Prohibited Activities
When using the Site, you agree not to:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site, our servers, or related systems.
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Site, including introducing viruses, malware, or other harmful code.
- Use automated tools (including scrapers, bots, or harvesters) to collect data from the Site without our permission.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any individual or organisation.

The Site contains links to external websites and services that are not operated by CPA. This includes links to:
- Payment processors (such as Stripe) for donations and event bookings.
- Our online community platform (currently Mighty Networks).
- Event booking services (such as Eventbrite).

- Social media platforms.

- We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of use of third-party websites and services.

If you encounter a broken or harmful external link on our Site, please let us know so we can investigate.
8. Limitation of Liability and Disclaimers

While we work hard to keep the Site accurate, up to date, and accessible, we make no warranties or representations, express or implied, about:

Important Notice About Support and Advice
CPA is a charity and membership community, not a crisis service or a medical provider.
Content on the Site, including articles about climate grief, eco-anxiety, and other emotional responses to the climate crisis, is provided for general information and community support. It is not a substitute for professional therapeutic, medical, or legal advice.

Limitation of Liability

- Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in Site content.
- Any actions you take or decisions you make based on Site content.
- The conduct of other users or third parties on or through the Site.
- Any unauthorised access to or use of your personal information.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.

Upon termination, your right to use the Site immediately ceases.
Sections of these Terms and Conditions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will continue to apply.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions, including any question regarding their existence, validity, or termination, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may have the right to bring proceedings in your local courts under applicable consumer protection law.
12. Changes to Terms and Conditions
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or best practice.
When we make significant changes, we will:
