Michael Chatziapostolou

Mike Chatziapostolou | MEng CEng PGDip MBACP MIET

Mike is a BACP registered gestalt psychotherapist based in South Devon, working with clients in-person and online. Working with the climate and ecological crises is an organising principle of his professional life, and is what led him to train as a therapist.

Over the past eight years, Mike's work has been shaped by a sustained engagement with the climate and ecological emergency across multiple fields. He co-founded Spherics, a climate-tech company (later acquired as Sage Earth), where alongside his commercial role he held regular 1:1s with team members navigating the existential weight of working daily in the climate space. He developed a wellbeing framework drawing on gestalt principles and Malcolm Parlett's concept of Whole Intelligence to support the psychological health of those doing climate work from the inside.

In private practice, Mike has worked with clients presenting with climate grief, ecological anxiety and a pervasive sense of hopelessness about the future. His therapeutic approach draws heavily on experiential and somatic methods to bring movement, aliveness and new perspectives to the heaviness these experiences can carry.

His voluntary work at Penny Brohn Cancer Care, offering short-term therapeutic support to people facing serious illness, has deepened his capacity to work with existential distress in a time-limited model.

Mike has recently become CEO of Embercombe, an educational charity and rewilding site on Dartmoor whose mission centres on living in close relationship with nature and co-creating a regenerative future - an ethos that aligns closely with how he approaches this work.
