Call for submissions for the CPA journal, Explorations in Climate Psychology
In 2026 so far 1000 wildfires have broken out in the UK, 98% of the US population has been affected by wildfire smoke and continental Europe has seen more than 20,000 heat related deaths. The deadly impact of global heating is finally and decisively making its presence felt in the richest countries in the world. Many of us have experienced at first hand and for the first time the difference between ‘knowing about’ and ‘knowing from experience’ underlined by Wilfred Bion in 1962.

Do these latest developments herald a shift in Climate Psychology and, if so, what lies ahead? The next issue of the journal ‘Explorations’, with the title ‘What next for climate psychology?’ seeks to explore these themes. You may have come across examples where researchers, practitioners or communities have worked together in the spirit of mutual assistance. Or you may have thoughts on how AI might be helpful or unhelpful in relation to climate issues.
We invite all relevant contributions to the journal in the form of reviews, discussions, group dialogues, stories, images or poetry. We would particularly like to receive contributions from younger writers.
If you haven't read the journal before, here's Issue 8 to give you a feel for it.
Please send questions or submissions to the issue 9 editors: els@nepenthe.org.uk and maggieturp@googlemail.com
