Justice is not an add-on

Across all of CPA's events, training, and professional spaces, justice, anti-discrimination, and decolonial thinking are integral, not optional. We believe climate psychology has to reckon with the histories that brought us here: racism, colonialism, extraction, and the unequal distribution of harm that continues to shape who is most affected by the climate crisis.

This shows up in how we design our training, the frameworks we draw on, and the conversations we make space for.

Training rooted
in climate psychology

CPA offers two core training programmes for practitioners and facilitators, each professionally grounded, experiential, and rooted in climate psychology.

Hosting and facilitating a Climate café listening circle (CCLC) training

Do you want to help build resilience in your community? Climate Cafe LIstening Circle (CCLC) Training builds the confidence, skills, and peer community to facilitate your own circles. Delivered as a structured programme over three sessions in closed cohorts, with ongoing supervision and support afterwards.

For therapeutic practitioners

Through the door

A one-day experiential workshop for psychotherapists, counsellors, and health practitioners exploring how to be present in the climate crisis and find new ways into the future. There's more inside the community

Membership opens up a fuller calendar of events, many of them shaped by members for members. These spaces are where the deeper work happens: peer reflection, supervision, emerging research, and conversations you won't find anywhere else.

  • Thinking Spaces: monthly meetings where members share emerging ideas, research, and reflections with each other

  • Group Support: for those offering climate-aware therapeutic support and Climate Café Listening Circles

  • Training on supporting parents and young people: practitioner-focused sessions for those working with families and youth

  • Collapse conversations: facilitated spaces to think honestly about what's coming and what it asks of us

  • Climate-aware clinical practice events: clinically focused 90-minute sessions blending presentation and peer supervision

  • New member welcome calls: a monthly space for those just joining

  • Research and reflection groups: for members wanting to think deeply about specific themes

Testimonials

What participants say

"The CCLC training gave me the confidence and the community to start holding spaces in my own town. I'm not doing this alone anymore."

CCLC training graduate

"Yesterday, I was so surprised and energised by the marvellously imaginative and creative event you facilitated. I can't believe I'm saying this of a Zoom event!!! It felt fertile and productive but also, painful and confusing. But, above all I felt energised… The group thinking triggered not just the loss and chaos of the Crisis but also my personal story. I think this was the 'powerful' connection enlivened in me. Playful, creative and imaginative crisis! If this is what is on the other side of the door .....then, count me in."

"My own experience of Through the Door was life-changing and I love thinking about how others will experience it. I went to the CPA Through the Door workshop in 2019, and it got me thinking with others about how my work with groups and leadership could enable me to respond to the climate crisis. It was a transformational experience and I credit it with the development of the climate café model."
