Location: Headley Lecture Theatre, Ashmolean Museum, Beaumont Street, Oxford OX1 2PH and online

Date: Saturday 8 June 2024, 9.30 - 16.00

What is the day about?

It is an invitation to explore our responses to the climate and ecological crisis, through artistic and relational practices. After an opening ceremony designed by Jo Chalkblack of the Vulgar Earth Collective, we will hear and explore excerpts from recently-published books by CPA members on the emotional and psycho-social aspects of this crisis and their impacts upon our individual, collective, and professional lives. Then we will consider together what needs to wither and what needs to be cherished - in ourselves and in society - in order to allow a different future to emerge.

Who should attend?

We want to welcome members of Oxford's lively climate community and anyone interested in the psychological impacts of the climate crisis who is able to join us online. If you work on or are concerned about climate and are interested in the psychological and social aspects of our collective predicament, you are very welcome to attend what promises to be a nourishing, supportive day with opportunities to think and feel together. Climate scientists, environmental humanities researchers, activists, NGO professionals, psycho-social researchers, psychological professionals, and concerned citizens are all most welcome.

Attendance options

We look forward to welcoming you to our event. If you can't attend in person, you can join us online (via this link). It's also possible to swap from in-person to online or vice versa. If you can't make the whole day, you are welcome to join for part of the event (we ask you please to aim to arrive during a break). Prior booking is required.

The day will include the Climate Psychology Alliance Annual General Meeting, which everyone is welcome to attend but at which only CPA members can vote.

For those who attend in-person, a light vegetarian/vegan buffet lunch is included in the in-person attendance fee.

Support for CPA members who are planning to join us in-person

Some of our Oxford-based members are able to provide a bed for the night in their homes for others who need it. CPA also has a small funding pot that can support members' travel to Oxford. The fund will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Since the pot is limited, we kindly ask that you only request it if necessary, so that we can help those who would be unable to travel to the event otherwise. You'll be able to request accommodation and travel fund on your checkout.
