Warm care and deep listening for young people 18-25 who want to explore living in a time of climate and other crises

A new monthly radical care space for young people

Are you thinking, feeling or acting in the knowledge of the climate crisis and also aware that many other parts of life are in crisis?

Do you sometimes feel abandoned, confused, lost, despairing, raging, scared – or maybe just numb?

Would you love to be able to spend time with others who get it, in a well-held space where you are warmly welcome, just as you are?

What is Radical Care?

We are offering a new monthly space for young people for warm care, deep listening and tools for resilience. You are welcome to come as a one-off or every month if you would like to.

Each month we invite you to a space where you can:

  • Feel warmly welcome
  • Talk about your experience with people who will not dismiss you, or just listen in
  • Meet other young people who may be in a similar position
  • Learn straightforward resilience building practices that you can take away and use again and again
  • Experience a consent-based space where you will not be required to do anything that doesn’t feel right to you
  • Choose to do a held self-reflection practice if you don’t want to talk with other people

We are working for collective care and resilience, based on consent and warm welcome, not just ‘talking about feelings’ but attending to deep human needs for belonging, autonomy and being seen and heard.

Who is facilitating it?

JO MCANDREWS

Jo is trained in arts psychotherapy and has been working for the last 25 years with young people, families and people who work with them, trying to improve understanding and meeting of young people’s needs. She works for radical system change to support children and young people in the face of climate emergency and feels fiercely protective of the well-being of young climate activists.

RACHAEL ALEXANDER

Rachael qualified as a psychologist ten years ago and specialises in working with children and parents experiencing trauma and attachment-related difficulties. Having children made her realise the importance of safe spaces for powerful feelings about the climate crisis. Rachael is passionate about how we can stay connected, compassionate and resilient as we face what is happening.

When is it happening?

The first session takes place on Wed 15th March 11am - 12.30 UK time online.

How do I book?

You do not need to book to attend this space. Just turn up on the Zoom link below before 11.05am and you will be welcomed in. (Please note that we will close the space at this time so that we can hold the group strongly without being distracted by interruptions).

However if you would like the Zoom link to be sent to you as a reminder then you are free to book via Eventbrite and you will receive an email a couple of days before the space and again an hour beforehand.
